Omarion Is Dancing Without A Deal Now

April 21, 2008 0

According to a report at AOL Black Voices, singer Omarion has been dropped from his label home of Columbia Records.

After his group B2K went its separate ways in December 2003, the 23-year-old signed a solo deal with the Sony imprint. Since then, Omarion has released two solo discs through Sony: 2005’s O and 2006’s 21. Last year, he released Face Off, a collaborative album with Bow Wow, whom he had previously worked with during the highly successful Scream Tour series. Aside from music, Omarion has gained experience as an actor as well, playing roles in several movies and television shows.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America’s web site, O and Face Off both earned gold certifications, while 21 didn’t. He and Bow Wow’s Scream Tour IV: Heartthrobs Live DVD from 2006 was also certified gold. His record with B2K, of course, is more lucrative, with the group earning three gold plaques and one platinum certification between their four albums.

The report speculates that Omarion may end up signing with Capitol Records if they hire former Sony executive David McPherson as Executive Vice President and head of Urban Music at the label. Otherwise, he may end up at Motown, since his management and production company, The Ultimate Group (TUG), has a deal with the label. Through said deal, TUG/Universal Motown released Naked and Veteran, the last two albums from Omarion’s friend Marques Houston.

I hate that record sales force so many people to get released nowadays. But since this is my girl favorite artist I cant wait to rub this in her face now.
