There was a sea of media awaiting the arrival of the Philadelphia Eagles this Tuesday morning in Lehigh, PA. As reports questioned Eagles Quarterback Michael Vick he was asked about Eagles Wide Receiver Desean Jackson and he told reporters he wasn’t sure if Jackson would report on time.
Unfortunately this could be a problem for the Eagles front office all year. Jackson is in the last year of his rookie contact and is due to make about $550,000 this year. Much less in my opinion then his talent is worth. The Eagles were aware this could get ugly when they drafted Wide Receiver Jeremy Maclin in 2009, hoping he could be a No. 1 receiver if needed.
If this issue doesn’t get solved and Jackson does hold out, I’m interested in seeing if the Eagles will jump deep into the free agent pool and offer a good free-agent wide out a deal. I hope these two sides quickly find common ground and the Eagles can focus on bringing the Lombardi trophy to Broad Street.
