HHS Philadelphia Welcomes SoxNation

Once the drama of the off-season ended the Philadelphia Phillies and the Boston Red Sox quickly became Vegas Odd Makers favorites to meet in the  Major League fall classic. Here comes an early preview of that.

Although it is only late June with the All-Star break yet to approach, much of the sporting world believes these two powerhouses could finish out the season strong and battle in late October in the 2011 World Series. This MLB inter-league three game series begins tonight at Citizens Bank Park with Cliff Lee (8-5) and Josh Beckett (6-2) on the mound respectively. The Phillies despite a early injuries to Roy Oswalt and Chase Utley have the best record in the Majors at (49-30). Boston, despite an awful month of April is (45-32) third best in the Majors and a half-game behind the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East.

Cliff Lee has pitched consecutive shutouts and hasn’t giving up a run in 23 innings. Josh Beckett’s 1.86 ERA leads the MLB although he has not stepped on the mound since June 15. The Red Sox’s are 11-4 in the Bank but have lost 4 of their last 5 coming into tonights game. I expect a huge night from Cliff Lee, Jimmy Rollins and 2 Home Runs from Ryan Howard as the Phils win 6-2 this evening and take two games of this three game series.  Is tonight’s matchup a Preview of the Fall Classic?
