In a sad but not shocking turn of events it has been revealed that Garrett Reid, son of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid died from a overdose of self-injected heroin based on the coroner’s report.

Garrett Reid was found dead during the Eagles training camp at Lehigh University on August 5, 2012. Garrett had been publicly fighting heroin/drug addictions for years and unfortunately loss that battle.

The Northampton County Coroner and D.A.’s Office announced the results of their investigations — and revealed they had found 47 syringes, 65 needles, and a number of spoons in Garrett’s gym bag.

This sad news shouldn’t be much of a distraction to the Eagles with this being their bye week. Before the coroner’s report the Reid family had released statements believing Garrett’s cause of death was drug related.

The Eagles host the Atlanta Falcons next week where Andy Reid will look to remind undefeated as the Eagles head coach coming off a bye week.
