Six years ago, Kanye West released ‘808’s & Heartbreak‘. This was his first project where he really explored other creative avenues outside of the norm that his listeners & fans were accustomed to. Of course with that being the case, the music didn’t really resonate as well as his previous works & it received a bit of backlash from those who just didn’t understand the creative direction Ye took with this project.

Well, six years later, Rolling Stone magazine has decided to revisit the project & give it the praise it truly deserves as a musical masterpiece. They’ve proclaimed this piece to be one of Kanye’s best works to date & listed it under the magazine’s 40 Most Groundbreaking Albums Of All Time list.

“Its core aesthetic was like nothing in hip-hop: freshly butchered feelings enumerated in detail, but masked by digital processing; beds of spare synths used to balance a mix of singing and rapping.. However, over time it served as a new template for up-and-comers in hip-hop and R&B.”

808’s & Heartbreak’ joins Mary J. Blige’s ‘What’s The 411?’ & Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ on this list. Congratulations Yeezus, you really are a god.
