It is with deep sorrow that once again I’ am reporting the news of another fallen solider. Coalition  DJs member DJ Nando who is largely responsible foe breaking several upcoming artist in Atlanta and getting them radio and mainstream spins has passed away. As so many in Atlanta and the hip-hop industry in general are still in shock, the Coalition DJs have released the follow statement:

It is with great sadness that the Coalition DJs confirm the passing of member and brother DJ Nando (photo attached). Born William Barnes, DJ Nando was a Virginia native who relocated to Atlanta 10+ years ago. He’s been a member of the Coalition DJs since 2008, and an intricate part of the group’s success in the music industry. As resident DJ at nationally recognized hotspots such as Magic City, Kamal’s 21, and Onyx, DJ Nando has had a hand in breaking an array of artists onto the national stage. In his final days DJ Nando was working on his debut album, and the preproduction stages of a clothing line called Da Army.

In a joint statement, the heads of Coalition DJs – Nick Love and Xavier “Big X” Hargrove have issued the following on behalf of the organization:

“Today we’ve lost not only a great talent and DJ, but our friend and brother. Nando had a great ear for talent and was highly respected within the DJ community and the music industry at large.. DJ Nando played a huge role in the success of Atlanta’s thriving music scene, and was a constant “go to” for labels and artists trying to get their music to the masses.

We’re not engaging in speculation, as we await the final reports from authorities, and ask that you join us in honoring his memory by doing the same. In the coming days we ask for your continued prayers for DJ Nando’s family, friends, his business partner AB and our organization as we work to process this senseless tragedy.”
