RapGenius is now officially just Genius.com. The name change was announced today as well as the company’s two huge moves. The founders have announced that they have raised a Series B led by Dan Gilbert for $40 million. The website has also launched embeddable annotations which allows any site to hover over text and gain access to info and explanations. Along with the new funding, Genius is bringing in a total of $56.8 million. The new funds will be used to hire more community leaders, designers, and engineers. According to TechCrunch, the company is hoping the name switch and annotations will bring in traffic aside from rap fans.
