I can’t say we saw this coming. One of the biggest surprises of the 2014 NFL season has been the play of the Dallas Cowboys and their current (6-1) record. As the Cowboys continue to prove doubters wrong during this young season. today the Dallas Cowboys have announced that they have cut rookie defensive end Michael Sam.

The Cowboys announced this afternoon that they waived Michael Sam for their practice squad to sign linebacker Troy Davis. Former SEC defensive player of the year Michael Sam was the first openly gay player drafted to play on the NFL. After being cut by the St. Louis Rams after the preseason, Sam signed with Dallas. Michael Sam took to twitter after  learning about his release to say the following.
