Sparksism, born Mukenge Kalamba on December 21st 1984 is both a hip-hop Emcee and Producer currently residing in Alexandria Virginia. Spending the first half of his life in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he was exposed to different varieties of music from an early age, ranging from the likes of Koffi Olomide, Zaiko Langa Langa to hip-hop artists such as Public Enemy, Dr Dre, The Notorious B.I.G and Tupac Shakur. He mainly credits Nas, Kanye West and Fela Kuti as his major sources of influence. His style fuses some of the basic components of hip-hop which include story-telling, beat breaks and samples. Through his music Sparksism attempts to shed new light on the African continent. To date he has released one LP, the self-titled Sparksism which was released in 2008. Currently Sparksism is working on his follow up to Sparksism which is titled Blietzkrieg and features some notable artists such as Tabi Bonney, Lyriciss of Inner Loop Records, Jay-Lou from the group R.D.C and the entire City Limits Entertainment cast which include, Moeazy, Zeezo, Roberto and Moe Millie. The project is slated to be released in summer 2014.
