Philly’s rising star, PnB Rock sat down with HHS1987’s EMoney for an exclusive interview discussing his music, his support, and more. After being home for less than a week from prison, PnB Rock sat down with us in between recording new music. Rock talked about what he did on his first day home, which involved shooting a video, a documentary, and working on music.

The young talent is known for his 2014 song “My City Needs Something” which was featured on MTV Jams while he was incarcerated. Rock talked to us about the feedback he received in the mail about his video being on TV. He said he couldn’t believe it until he received fan pictures of his video on TV through the mail, CO’s showing him love in prison, inmates asking him why is he in here and much more.

PnB Rock broke down the meaning behind PnB, and what it stands for. It stands for Pastorius and Baynton streets located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. He said it’s a lot of kids from that streets, henceforth the many different artists with PnB in front of their name. Similar to ASAP Mob having multiple rappers with ASAP at the start of their names.

PnB Rock talked about some of the new music he is currently working on. He mentioned he will be releasing RNB 3 this summer on iTunes. The project will features close to twelve songs of entirely him with little to no features.

We talked to Rock about his sound, his creative process, his management team and more. On his sound, he credits his mother for being a music head, that was constantly playing a variety of music in the house while he was growing up. Rock mentioned when he was first in jail, he use to hear so many guys rap and sing. That motivated him to do so as well, but he would quietly work on his raps in his cell. When he was ready he spit in the yard for everyone, and the feedback was great. With the feedback from the guys in prison, Rock was encouraged that he had something good if those guys supported him. When it comes to his creative process, Rock simply said the beat speaks to him, instantly creating the hooks for his songs. On his support team, he credits his management team consisting of Mont, Bam and Aubrey (@mfnlove @bamsaynomore @bignbreezydatruth). They were the ones behind his social media while he was incarcerated, releasing his new music, getting his video on MTV Jams and much more.

This interview was conducted by HHS1987’s EMoney and shot by Rick Dange.
