Common and John Legend received the Academy Award for Best Original Song earlier tonight. Moments before being awarded with the Oscar, the collaborators gave a powerful performance of “Glory.” Legend played piano soulfully as Common delivered his powerful lyrics. Civil rights protestors joined them on stage to provide backup vocals for the Selma-inspired song. The entire audience was left standing on their feet and many, including the movie’s David Oyelowo and Chris Pine, had tears in their eyes.
