Are you ready for some football? It’s Thursday so that means Week 16 of the 2016 NFL season kicks off tonight in Philadelphia. We have a big NFC East rivalry matchup tonight as the (5-9) Philadelphia Eagles host Odell Beckham Jr. and the (10-4) New York Giants.
The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2016 NFL season off with a record of (3-0) but they have lost 7 of their last 9 games. After serving a 10 game suspension, offensive lineman Lane Johnson returns to the lineup tonight and that could be big for the Eagles and rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. The Giants feature one of the NFL’s best defenses so the Eagles could face a challenge moving the ball. Tonight I expect the Eagles to come out firing on all cylinders. Look for the Eagles rushing game to collectively rush for over 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. Carson Wentz will throw for over 300 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Eagles defense will create three turnovers tonight and keep their home crowd cheering and roaring all game long.
The New York Giants have been the best team in the NFC in my opinion over the past six weeks but for some reason I have a feeling tonight the Giants won’t live up to the hype. The Giants passing game will be effective as Eli Manning will pass for over 300 yards as well and 2 touchdown passes. Odell Beckham Jr. will have a day with 120 yards and one touchdown but not enough to give the Giants a win. Giants Pro Bowl cornerback Janoris Jenkins may miss the game which will hurt the Giants defense if he does. With Jason Pierre-Paul still injured, the Giants will need all hands on deck as they look to secure a postseason spot.
Although I feel the New York Giants have the talent to win the game and that they should win tonight, I’m going with the home team. The Giants played spoiler to the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks ago on primetime T.V., I think the Philadelphia Eagles do the same thing to the Giants this evening at the Linc. Stay tuned to HHS1987.
