On Monday October 10th, the Atlanta Hawks welcomed the Cleveland Cavaliers to Philips Arena for the Hawks first home game of the 2016 NBA preseason. The Hawks took this game as a opportunity to host a unique game experience, celebrating multicultural groups, diverse populations and organizations committed to improving relations amongst different groups, in what was the first-ever Unity Game. Both teams were introduced as one and during the singing of the National Anthem, both teams locked arms in unity. After that it was time for basketball.

The Cleveland Cavs didn’t play any of their starter so that meant no Lebron James , Kyrie Irving or Kevin Love. The hometown Atlanta Hawks however played all of their starters with the exception of a injury Paul Millsap. With Millsap out, newly acquired big man Dwight Howard had himself a game scoring 26 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.

Following the Hawks (99-93) victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Hawks star Dwight Howard spoke on his 26 point performance, playing at home at Philips Arena as a Hawk for the first time and more.
