The Atlanta Hawks currently stand at (14-15) after losing to the (9-19) Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, December 21st at Philips Arena.
The Atlanta were coming off of a road win on Monday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Wednesday night was also the Hawks second straight game with out all-star Dwight Howard. Howard’s absence was fell on the boards as the Hawks were out rebounded by over 15 rebounds. Dennis Schroder was the leading scorer for the Hawks as he finished the game with 21 points and 7 assist. Paul Millsap continues to be a force on offense as he scored 18 points grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 7 assist. The Hawks started the game with a small lineup with Korver, Sefolosha, Millsap, Bazemore and Schroder starting. Big Man Mike Muscala accounted for 16 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.
The Minnesota Timberwolves moved to a record of (9-19) and have won back to back games for the first time all season. Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins started the game strong with 10 points and finished the night with 19 points on (9-19) shooting from the field and 7 rebounds. Timberwolves big man Karl Anthony-Towns was a monster on the boards with Dwight Howard not playing. Towns finished the night with 17 points and 18 rebounds including 14 defensive rebounds. TWolves high flyer Zach LaVine finished with 18 points.
The Atlanta Hawks are on the road this Friday night as they face the Denver Nuggets in Denver. The Atlanta Hawks return home on December 28th against the New York Knicks. The Minnesota Timberwolves are back in action Friday night as they host the Sacramento Kings and on Christmas Day (December 25th) on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
