On Friday January 13th, the Atlanta Hawks fell to a record of (22-17) after losing to the (25-15) Boston Celtics in what was sellout at Philips Arena (103-101). Friday night’s matchup of the Celtics vs. Hawks not only was a battle between the #3 and #4 seeds in the Eastern Conference, it was also a homecoming for former Atlanta Hawks star Al Horford.

Following the game, the Boston Celtics spoke on the their victory and a few things that were the keys to the game. Celtics head coach Brad Stevens spoke on the heart of his team and Isaiah Thomas’ fourth quarter performance. Stevens spoke on Isaiah’s leadership on the court and Al Horford’s reunion at Philips Arena.

The Boston Celtics came out was a chip on their shoulder feeling like they had to get a win for Al Horford. Celtics all-star Isaiah Thomas continues to display he is one the best player in the NBA. Thomas finished the night with 28 points and 9 assist and Thomas called off a timeout from his head coach Brad Stevens to hit a game winner over Kent Bazemore with 2.4 seconds remaining in the game. Thomas spoke on calling an audible on the final play, facing Dennis Schroder and more.

Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk was Boston’s second highest scorer on the night with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Kelly spoke after the game on his big night and facing the Atlanta Hawks big men, Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard. Al Horford shot (4-8) from the floor finishing with 10 points and 6 rebounds against Atlanta. Horford spoke with the media following Boston’s win on being back in Atlanta, beating the Atlanta Hawks and staying focused as we approach a few weeks before the 2017 NBA All-Star break.

The Atlanta Hawks are back on the court this Sunday, January 15th against the Milwaukee Bucks at 3pm. The Celtics are off until Martin Luther King Day this Monday (January 16th) when they face the Charlotte Hornets.
