Basketball returns to Philips Arena tonight! As we move into the final week of the 2016-17 NBA regular season, the Hawks will face the Celtics tonight on TNT.
Tonight, the (39-38) Atlanta Hawks host the (50-28) Boston Celtics in a Eastern conference showdown. The Boston Celtics are playing the second game of a back to back coming off of a (114-91) loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics struggled on Wednesday night against the Cavs and will be looking to bounce back tonight in Atlanta. Tonight’s matchup will also be the second time this season. former Atlanta Hawks star Al Horford returns to Philips Arena. Horford is averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in his first season with Boston. The Celtics loss to Cleveland last night dropped them to the second seed in the Eastern conference. Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas and Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder have formed an interesting rivalry on the court so their matchup tonight will be key.
The Atlanta Hawks come into Thursday’s game after being on the road for three straight games. The Hawks were (1-2) on the road losing two straight vs. the Bulls and Nets on Saturday and Sunday of last week. One of the highlights during the road trip however was the return of Hawks all-star Paul Millsap. Millsap returned to action on Sunday in Brooklyn after missing 8 games with a knee injury and finished with 14 points in 25 minutes. The Hawks have suffered as a team from injuries recently but seem to be getting healthier right in time for the postseason. Unfortunately, Thabo Sefolosha will miss tonight’s matchup vs. Boston for the Hawks.
Not only will the Hawks face the Boston Celtics tonight on TNT, during halftime of tonight’s game, Atlanta native/ songstress Monica Brown will be performing a few of her hit tunes for Tinder night.
