A few games into the 2017-18 NBA season and the (1-7) Atlanta Hawks are soaring toward the bottom of the pack! Last night, on Wednesday November 1st, the Atlanta Hawks loss a tough matchup against the (4-4) Philadelphia Sixers (119-109).

 

The young Philadelphia Sixers team has looked good this season and for the first time in over 4 years, the Sixers are currently .500 in the standing. Sixers big man Joel Embiid recorded 30 minutes of action, a career high and Embiid finished the night with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assist. Sixers rookie of the year candidate Ben Simmons continues to be impressive. Simmons finished the night one assist shy of a triple-double. Simmons recorded 19 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assist. If the Sixers continue to play like this, they will certainly earn a playoff spot this year.

 

For the Hawks, injuries continue to haunt them. Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder finished the night with 20 points and 6 assist. Taurean Prince was impressive scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Off the bench, Luke Babbitt finished the night with 16 points.

 

The Hawks next few games won’t be any tougher. On Friday November 3rd, James Harden and Houston Rockets will come to Philips Arena looking for a victory. The Rockets are (6-3) and have looking good this season. It was be interesting to see how the young Hawks matchup with Houston. Tomorrow night Marco Belinelli (sore left Achilles) is probable. DeAndre’ Bembry (fractured right wrist) is out. Malcolm Delaney (sprained right ankle) is doubtful. Ersan Ilyasova (bone bruise, left knee) is out. Mike Muscala (sprained left ankle) is probable. Miles Plumlee (strained right quad) is out and Dennis Schröder (sprained left ankle) is probable.
