Texas Hold Em: Atlanta Hawks vs. Dallas Mavericks (10-18-17) (Recap); Hawks Win (117-111)

The 2017-18 NBA season is now underway and the Atlanta Hawks have tipped off the season right. Opening up the season on the road in Dallas versus rookie Dennis Smith Jr. and the Dallas Mavericks, the Hawks picked up a big victory to start the season with a record of (1-0).

 

Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder played extremely well in the season opener finishing the game with 28 points and 7 assist on (13-26) shooting from the field. The second leading scorer for the Hawks was offseason free agent pick up Marco Bellinelli. Bellinelli finished the game with 20 points as he was on fire from beyond the three point line hitting (4-6) from downtown.

It was a homecoming of sorts for swingman Taurean Prince who spent his college basketball years with the Baylor Bears. Prince had a key block late in the fourth quarter to help seal the win and he finished the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The future looks bright for highflying rookie John Collins. Collins was very impressive overall during the game finishing with 14 points and 5 rebounds.

 

The Dallas Mavericks fought hard all game but the young Mavericks didn’t pull away with the win. Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr. finished his first NBA game with 16 points and 10 assist. Next up for the Atlanta Hawks is a matchup between former Hawks big man Dwight Howard and the new look Charlotte Hornets on Friday night. Stay tuned to HHS1987 for more NBA news.
