OKC-Sixers-500x279 Triple Threat, Triple OT: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Philadelphia Sixers (12-15-17) (Recap)

What a night at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philly on Friday night.

The young Philadelphia Sixers have been impressive during the start of this 2017-18 NBA season and as we move closer to Christmas and the Sixers matchup on National TV against the Knicks, Friday night was a good test for the Sixers.

NBA MVP Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Carmelo Anthony and the new look Oklahoma City Thunder came to town. Despite both teams currently standing at (14-14), the Thunder came into the game favored but it took triple overtime to get the jobs done (119-117). Russell Westbrook finished the game with a triple-double although he didn’t shoot well on the night. Westbrook finished the night with 27 points, 18 rebounds and 15 assist. Carmelo Anthony may have had he best performance in a Thunder uniform. Carmelo Anthony and Paul George both finished the night with 24 points.

The Sixers stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid played big but they needed some of their teammates to step up on the big stage. Embiid finished with 34 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assist. Simmons finished with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assist. Swingman Robert Covington struggled Friday night shooting (4-21). When Covington is on, the Sixers are one of the best teams in the East, if he isn’t the results haven’t favored Philly.

Trash talking on the court was one of the best components to Friday nights game. Joel Embiid and Carmelo Anthony jawed back and forth for a moment and post game both Embiid and Westbrook spoke on the trash talk among the teams. The Sixers are back in action on Monday as they face the Chicago Bulls. Stay tuned to HHS1987. Follow @eldorado2452 on Twitter and Instagram for all your Atlanta Hawks and sports news.
