Hawks-Celtics-500x279 NBA: Atlanta Hawks vs. Boston Celtics (2-27-17) (Recap)

Last night, the Atlanta Hawks moved on to a record of (33-26) after defeating the (38-22) Boston Celtics (114-98) in Boston. After losing their previous two games versus the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat, the Hawks were in a must win situation and they showed and proved on Monday night.

The Atlanta Hawks came out the gate focused and ready for their big Eastern Conference matchup. In his first game back in the starting lineup after the all-star break, Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder played one his best games of the season. Schroder controlled the tempo of the game scoring 21 points on (9-14) shooting with 5 assist. Hawks all-star Paul Millsap continues to be effective scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Dwight Howard set the table for the Hawks in Boston in the paint Monday night. Dwight was ejected from the game after picking up his second technical foul as he hung on the rim after a dunk but finished the game with 17 points and 12 rebounds in 27 minutes of work.

Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas finished with 19 points ending his 43 games streak of 20 points or more. Thomas struggled from the floor shooting (4-21) on the night. Celtics guard Marcus Smart finished with 16 points while rookie Jalen Brown finished with 15 points on (6-10) from the field. The Celtics and Hawks are building a good rivalry in the Eastern conference and if these two meet in the postseason, things could get interesting.

The Atlanta Hawks are back at home on Wednesday March 1st against the Dallas Mavericks and then they will host the defending world champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. Stay tuned to HHS1987 for more NBA news.
