The Hawks are aggressively pursuing a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers involving ATL’s Josh Smith and the Lakers Gasol. Smith hasn’t been thrilled with his situation in Atlanta and is rumored to be looking for a trade.
The Lakers attempted a trade last season involving Pau Gasol and Chris Paul and once the trade was cancelled by the NBA, Gasol trade rumors continued all year increasing once the Lakers were bounced from the playoffs by Oklahoma City in the second round. Smith is a unrestricted free agent in June 2013 and is due $13.2 million this year while Gasol had 2 years and $38.3 million on his deal.
L.A. has also been shopping Gasol around for a Top 10 pick in tomorrow nights NBA draft. Many teams are interested in Gasol but may not have the cap space to trade for him. The Lakers want Kentucky sophomore small forward stud Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
The 6-7 athletic forward averaged 12 points and nearly 12 rebounds for the NCAA wildcats and is projected to be a top 5 pick. With the Lakers lost at the point guard spot could the Buss family be looking at turning MKG into Mike Brown’s version of Magic? I think so
Does the Gasol/Smith trade or Gasol/ top 5 Draft pick trade seem better for the Lakers?
