Question: @ElliottWilson Asks Does Trinidad James Deserves Our Attention? (Video)
Rap sensation Trinidad James has made a splash with his new single “All Gold Everything” and a headlining show at NYC’s Santos Party House, but does he have what it takes to stay in the game long term? Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson breaks down the debate and delivers his verdict on this episode of The Truth.
I personally think he makes swag music, so you can’t take him serious like Kendrick Lamar. If you listen to Trinidad for fun, and games, then he is cool. On a side not, bull is a mockery of hip hop. I showed Trinidad to my coworker and he was highly upset at what hip hop has become.

I couldnt DISAGREE with your commentary more!! What Trinidad represents is a more light hearted, feel good vibe in hip-hop. To compare him to Kendrick Lamar who is a polar opposite is unfair and used in a way to strike a radical contrast to validate your point. If trinidad james is a mockery due to his colorful nature and wardrobe then so is ODB, Busta Rhymes, Cee Lo, Andre 3000 and a host of other rappers whose imagery and presentation is equal or greater than their music. Hip-hop is and always has been about expression. How James chooses to express himself fashion/image wise shouldnt be the defining factor in whether people believe he’s going to have a career or not. There was a time where we could have balance in hip hop and no one thought twice about it. The fact that theres even an issue with his look shows that the southern bias and prejudice is still in full effect bc Camron wore pink for 3 years straight and everyone followed suit. TJ wears versace loafers and a silk shirt and he’s considered a coon. For someone to not view TJ objectively and see the genius in the imagery of his video and not think its done intentionally to strike us mentally and leave a lasting image would have to be a fool. To hear him talk u KNOW he’s quite intelligent and furthermore his mixtape is a balanced presentation of music with the other 9 tracks sounding nuthin like All Gold Everything. If 2Chainz can become the top artist in the game there is CLEARLY a lane for Trinidad James.
Trinidad is a swag rapper in my book so he cool. I said u can’t take him serious nor compare him to lyrical rappers like Kendrick. True he fits in the 2 Chainz lane and that’s very popular these days. Bull not making my iTunes no time soon.
He a coon!! But I like that song!! Him and Little B are Equal can’t compare him to ODB, Busta Rhymes, Cee Lo, Andre 3000 they all have classic music and movements… Will he be here next year this time??? Those dudes been around for years…
He maybe around come next year. The momentum is in his favor right now. If he delivers a second song then he here for good. Lil B got dry before a second song got catchy so it was a wrap for him. James is different and that’s cool, I’m not knocking him for his individuality but in my opinion, He doesn’t deserve my attention. He may grow to have the biggest fan base and even some Grammys. But as of now, he not making my iTunes.
He gonna be the spokesman for Bo Jingles chicken if he gets another hit…. Mannnnnnnnnn… lol
When I was first introduced to TJ music it was a rare experience for me because I got to hear his mix tape in its entirety vs. hearing a smash hit single first. At first glance I said “who is this fool! & fell out laughing at his Romey Rome swag” & at first listen I said “damn I really should have did drugs and keep writing when I was younger” I shelfed his mixtape for about two weeks after that. Then after watching his day in a life episodes on YouTube I could understand him more. Gave his music a second listen and it was great if you talking production wise. A lot of top artist lack substance so it wouldn’t even be fare to judge him on what he raps about because 90% of artist aren’t saying shyt. Overall I don’t know how long he will last. Especially with this overnight pressure he bumped into with the success of his mix tape. But ahhh….there’s room from TJ if Cheif Keef still making noise smh now that’s an “person” who needs to be banned from the game period!
The more different and unique you are, the more you will stand out and create your own lane in hip hop. Keef and James are doing that. Their music is very trendy so I don’t expect them around too much longer. Even though dudes cash out over one single, one mixtape/album and etc.. One hit wonders these days make money.
