Brooklyn-bred Jordan Cortes, better known by his stage name, J-Starr the Prince, first came on the scene in 2013 with a few freestyles and loosies. In just a year’s time, he dropped his first mixtape, and thanks to his diversity as an artist, his ability to experiment and excel with different sounds, explosive energy, and charismatic stage presence, he was able to grow a fan base and start opening for well-known artists, such as Fred the Godson, Cassidy, Vado, and Spliff Star. His hard work and dedication to the grind even earned him a small mention in this year’s XXL Freshman magazine.
His biggest single to date is “Take ‘Em Down,” featuring Tay600 of Chicago’s Southside. J-Starr the Prince teamed back up with Tay600 to remix “Drill Time,” the Slim Jesus track that everyone talking; check out their rendition below.
