Recently, Florida artist 3TheRapper announced his new deal with The Music Business Academy out of Miami, Florida. Led by music mogul and celebrity A&R, JuiceKarter, this brings a lot of more eyes on the Central Florida and Lakeland music scene. After signing a game-changing deal, let’s get to know more about 3TheRapper as he makes his way into the music industry!

What made you get into making music in the first place?
In high school I used to write and freestyle during lunch for fun. My boy Keith who I played football with introduced me to his brother Diante who made beats at the crib. Most of the time I used to watch him experiment with beats. But every now and then when he had free time I would play around making hooks and he would show me how to make beats. We did all this with a sock , a mic , and a keyboard. From there the music jus started changing my whole lifestyle and a lot everything I did had more music being a part of it.

Did your parents or family influence you into music, or were they against your music aspirations?
My mom wasn’t against music but she felt music didn’t have reachable goals without either getting put in jail or being caught up in the wrong crowd chasing a dream. My pops was always either Jamming to some kompa or playing the guitar. As for my grandpa, he played the hand drum in Haiti for years with bands before I heard his last beat. It wasn’t gonna be to long before somebody else in the family did something with music. So I feel a lot of the music side in me comes from the culture I grew up in.

How has it been working with an industry vet like Juice and The Music Business Academy so far?
It’s been a great experience with Juice straight off the back. A lot of what we been through was similar and there was such a common ground of respect. It was almost a no brainer for us not to work together. Our communication has been on point since day 1 and I feel like there is a strong team behind me and all the goals we are looking forward to reaching this year. The music business academy has definitely been opening doors and our consistency together is gonna shake up the industry for sure.

If you could collaborate with any artist outside of your genre, who would it be?
It would be the rock band Breaking Benjamin. A lot of their music til this day are classics and they have such a unique sound I can’t help but to gravitate to it . After experiencing battle of the bands. Live music is ultimately on my list!! Everything from the sound set up to the crowd. After the show I became real good friends with the drummer from the band Shawn Foist so the opportunity to work with a rock band is definitely within grasp . Who knows? Bridging a gap between rock, rap and haitian music would be a crazy experience.

Do you have any crazy stories on performing live, or promoting your music in the club?
One of the craziest moments from performing live is when I was opening for young joc. We had everything set up and an right before I could start rapping in front the crowd my mike cuts off so I’m on stage with the mic out. Now Turning A cappella the crowd starts yelling !!! More so anxious to hear some music so I start chanting Sak pase !!! Nap boule here is where my intro was born and my crowd control became tested. The crowd starts clapping the other half yelling at the engineering to get the show back up and running long before we no it the music gets cut back on mid acapella now we back in motion. And half the people that left started coming back so I had to save the show and also warm up the crowd before joc could even step on stage.

What does a successful 2023 look like for you?
A successful 2023 looks like me and my team sitting at a round table discussing the next plaque we are getting in the mail. I’m not tryin to be like every artist that came before me . But I definitely learn from them. I much rather separate myself and break records and do what others are not doing. I wanna get to the point we’re pushing the envelope, it becomes natural and the outcome feeds our families. I’m looking forward to working and collaborating with all kinds of artists and entities and seeing what stories unfold.

If we were to visit your hometown today, what local food spots would you recommend?
If I had to recommend a place to eat it would be country chicken and fish. It’s one of the best places to get chicken from. We all love to complain how long it takes but when it tastes this good it must be worth the wait. If you ask anybody from Lakeland you would know they at least had a bite from there. It’s definitely a staple for good black food and a unique experience.

Do you have a favorite type of food that your fans should know about?
Favorite food is any spicy island food, especially my haitian food so if we whipping up some chicken and some brown rice “sós pwa“ with unlimited sides it definitely would be game over with a lil bit of jerk seasoning.
