Remy Ma, originally set to be sentenced to prison on April 23, is now apparently due to be sentenced May 13.
According to AllHipHop.com, although Remy faces up to 25 years in prison, sources said that she is expected only to received three to five years in prison.
The rapper, who was found guilty of assault, weapons possession and coercion by a New York Supreme Court, allegedly short childhood friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph for stealing $3,000 from her purse.
Remy’s defense maintained that it was an accident (Barnes-Joseph later corroborated this, saying the gun went off by accident during a struggle over her purse), and will therefore appeal the verdict.
