Saints Matt Ryan Has Career Day But Red Zone Stand Edges Saints Over Falcons

Somewhere Mercury Morris and his teammates from the 1972 Miami Dolphins were smiling yesterday as Matt Ryan, Roddy White and Julio Jones took their 8-0 record into New Orleans and came back to Atlanta now standing at 8-1.

The New Orleans Saints have not only won four straight lead by their all-pro quarterback Drew Brees, they ended all the hype and trash talk about the Atlanta Falcons running the table and going 16-0 in this 2012 NFL season. Sorry Atlanta, the chances of postseason success is still alive but the hope of perfection for the dirty birds won’t come this year.

Earlier in the week Falcons standout wide receiver Roddy White gave mention that the Falcons could go 16-0 because they had that special  “pedigree”. The comment seemed to immediately be the jinx for what could have been for this Falcons team. The Saints already being a huge rival and NFC South foe used that as motivation as they upset the undefeated Atlanta Falcons 31-27 moving New Orleans to 4-5 and giving the Falcons their first loss of the season.

Drew Brees and Matt Ryan both gave amazing performances respectively for their organizations. Ryan was 33 for 48 passing on the day  with 3 touchdown passes and threw for a career high 402 yards. Brees was 21-32 for 298 with 3 touchdown passes.

The Falcons host Larry Fitzgerald and the Arizona Cardinals sunday while the Saints will travel to the bay area to face Carson Palmer and the Oakland Raiders.
