Brian Hoyer Named The Cleveland Browns Starter Over Johnny Manziel

August 20, 2014 0

Welp, the guessing and assuming is over. The Cleveland Browns have named Brian Hoyer the opening day starter over first round draft pick Johnny Manziel. During the Browns Monday Night Football matchup against the Washington Redskins, Manziel finished the going (7-16) for 65 yards and a touchdown. Hoyer was (2-6) for just 16 yards.

Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine had this to say about Brian Hoyer, “He was the clear leader from the beginning”, “We’ve maintained all along that if it was close, I would prefer to go with the more experienced player. Brian has done a great job in the meeting rooms and with his teammates on the practice field and in the locker room.”.

This should be a wake up call for Johnny Manziel. This is the NFL and everything is earned here. I hope Johnny gets a chance soon though, I think he will be a very good NFL quarterback. Stay tuned to HHS1987 for all your NFL news.
