It’s almost been two decades since Lauryn Hill dropped her classic album The Miseducation, and the impact is still felt today. The chart topping album garnered many hits and earned Ms. Hill top spot on the Billboard charts. Fast forward to 2017 and females emcees are still proving themselves on the mic, earning respect from their male counterparts.
After dropping the song of the summer with Bodak Yellow, the Bronx’s own Cardi B becomes the first female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with a solo record in almost 19 years. After moving Post Malone’s Rockstar with 21 Savage out the top spot, Cardi has made history and the sky seems to be the limit for her as we await her debut album.
