“Even through the joy” J. Cole feels the “pain” as he gets “high to fight the lows” on “Cheer Up.” Bowing his head in order to reach the point of no return, J. Cole informs listeners what he knows on “Cheer Up.” Scared by the words of his Mother that he heard as a child, he questions himself & the life that he felt he could not escape. Speaking not only to himself but a “little mama” that he would like to “Cheer Up,” he warns her to get her “a**” off twitter so she can be somebody. Using his newfound power to influence the life of another, J. Cole asks himself should he “blast” himself. J. Cole expresses that he feels like going “under” on “Cheer Up” as if that is all he knows while fighting to survive.
“Get your ass off twitter you can be somebody”
