Lil B’s new album announcement came with a big bang, but the actual release of ‘I’m Gay’ — now titled ‘I’m Gay (I’m Happy) — came quietly without warning, with Lil B releasing the 12-track effort independently June 29 on iTunes.
When Lil B announced that his next album would be titled ‘I’m Gay’ during his Coachella set this past April, he didn’t specify a release date. As the coming months passed, the Bay Area hip-hop artist was met with opposition and death threats about his chosen title. While Lil B defended himself, charging that the controversial title was necessary because “the hip-hop community is being very close-minded and very hateful, very violent” in an MTV interview, still no word about a release date. Apart from non-stop tweets on Lil B’s Twitter page in the last 24 hours that lead his followers to the album’s purchase link, no other news of the release date was made public.
