The first thing that pops into most peoples’ minds when you mention the words “Las Vegas” are images of casino games and neon lights, but Vegas is actually home to a lot more than just gambling. Not only are many of the world’s best restaurants and clubs located in Vegas but the city plays host to some of the biggest stars of the music scene, with plenty of concerts for hip hop fans to enjoy.
Not only do many of the large hotels and casinos in Vegas offer regular concerts and shows but many acts play in other stadiums and arenas in town as part of the regular concert circuit, so visitors and residents of Vegas can double up on the entertainment side when it comes to music. As far as hip hop, below you’ll find some of the top concerts in Las Vegas to look forward to in the latter half of 2011.
Jay-Z and Kanye West at MGM Grand – December 9: Two of hip-hop’s biggest stars will return to Vegas for another encore of one of the most popular concert’s each and every year, with the two sharing the stage at te MGM Grand Arena in December.
iHeartRadio Music Festival at MGM Grand – September 23-24: This new music festival is a who’s-who of the music world, featuring artists of all genres and including hip hop stars Usher, Alicia Keys, and Jay-Z.
Young Jeezy at the Palms Casino – August 26: A nice casino bonus for guests at the Palms is checking out Young Jeezy, who’s had plenty of his own hits as well as appearing on other hit songs from Akon, Rihanna, and Usher.
Shaggy at the Beach at Mandalay Bay – September 9: Shaggy may fall a bit more on the reggae side of the ledger instead of pure hip hop but the odds are good fans will be able to enjoy performances of both his 1995 single “Boombastic” and 2000 single “It Wasn’t Me” in his concert at Mandalay Bay.
