Tonight the 2012 NBA Champion Miami Heat open the season as the defending champs against their bitter rivals the Boston Celtics.
The last time we saw the Celtics and Heat facing each other was in the NBA Eastern conference finals in a game 7 where the Boston Celtics seemed to just run out of gas. After the lost we saw a very emotional Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett and as a result the Big 3 of Boston split up as Ray Allen became a turncoat leaving the Celtics for South Beach.
The Miami Heat MVP Lebron James finally got the monkey off his back wining his first championship and now many so called NBA expects believe the red sea has re-opened and “King James” will now dominate the league. I don’t see things like that.
Both teams have upgraded , however I believe Boston has had the best off-season of any team, even the Lakers, signing Jason Terry, Courtney Lee, Jeff Green and drafting Fab Melo and Jared Sullinger respectively. The Heat’s biggest off-season moves were stealing Ray Allen from Boston and signing Rashard Lewis.
Tonight I like the Boston Celtics. Miami’s crowd will be insane when they rise the championship banner and I think that will drive Boston to come out tonight and make a huge statement.
