The Minnesota Timberwolves have huge expectations this year and are looking to surprise doubters in the West and enter the playoffs. They will have to begin that journey with their best player on the sideline.
2012 Olympic Gold medalist and Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Love broke his right hand in a morning workout on Wednesday and will miss six to eight weeks.
Love broke the third and fourth metacarpals on his shooting hand in a workout before practice. The Timberwolves are already battling injuries as point guard Ricky Rubio heal from a torn ACL. Love’s injury is certainly a setback but hopefully a speedy recover will have the NBA’s best power forward back on the court around Christmas.
The Timberwolves open the regular season at home against Sacramento on Nov. 2.
