The city of New York can smile for at least one more round. The New York Knicks have just defeated the Boston Celtics 88-80 in Game 6 of their first round eastern conference meeting ending the series and winning the series 4-2. The Knicks and Carmelo Anthony both have had a rough history in the postseason over the last ten years and both now can feel a little relief until they meet their next opponent the Indiana Pacers. The Knicks were up by 26 points at one point but Boston fought back to narrow New York’s lead to five points but could not stop Carmelo’s hot hand late. Boston brass will have to decide what they will do with aging veterans Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett this offseason. Both have given their all to the Celtics organization but father time may have the best of them now. Jeff Green was Boston’s high scorer with 21 points while Paul Pierce and Jason Terry added 14 each. Carmelo finished with 21 for New York while second year man Iman Shumpert added 17 points.
