Last night’s week 9 NFL Monday night football matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears wasn’t just a loss in the record books as the Packers were beat by the Bears (27-20) but Green Bay’s franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a shoulder injured on the first Packers drive in the first quarter when he was sacked by Chicago Bears LB Shea McClellin and from that point on a team already hit with injuries seemed down and nearly out.
Packers back up Seneca Wallace stepped in to fill Rodgers’ shoes and he was serviceable in his first regular season action as the first string QB however it was obvious that the fast pace, high octane offense cheesehead nation has come to know and love was the not same in Rodgers’ absence. Packers camp is staying positive about the status of ARod’s injury however it has been reported the Rodgers will miss three weeks and could very well miss the reminder of the season.
If you ask me I could very well see Green Bay’s brass calling Vince Young, who was on their roster this preseason back to serve as their new starter and it may be a small window for the Packers to reach out to former backup Matt Flynn who was recently released by the Buffalo Bills. Young is a much better fix in my eyes however. The Packers have a short week to get things together as the (4-5) Philadelphia Eagles march into Lambeau Field this sunday looking to stay in the race for first place in the NFC East. Stay tuned to HHS1987 for more details.
