After losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars last night, Gary Kubiak has been fired by the Houston Texans. Currently with a 2-11 record the Houston Texans have dropped from being strong Super Bowl contenders, to if the season ended now, they would have the first pick in the 2014 NFL draft. Despite having successful season over the past two years, Kubiak has a overall record of (61-63) which is under .500 since he took the head coaching position in 2006. Kubiak may have made his own bed last night during the Thursday night matchup against Jacksonville when he benched quarterback Case Keenum and reinserted quarterback Matt Schaub who is having a rough year to say the least. Houston Texans owner Bob McNair has this to say: “This has been a very disappointing year for the Texans organization,” “We started out with such high hopes, we started out with the best roster we’ve ever started a year with. … And to have this string of losses that we’ve sustained is just totally unacceptable. It’s not what this organization is about. It’s about winning and accountability.” “I truly felt that (Kubiak) would be with us until it was time to retire,” “But we have to do what’s best for the organization. We’re here to have a winning culture, and this year does not contribute to that.” The Texans have 3 games remaining and Case Keenum has been named the starter for the remainder of the season.
