What’s So Special about the Me & This Song: Ever since hip-hop was hip-hop, it has been pretty commonplace for rappers to inevitably represent and promote their hometowns in their music and with up and coming 17-year old rapper, Josbi, it’s no different. While some rappers hail from the East or West coasts, and even sometimes from the Midwest, Josbi comes from the south – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, South America, to be specific. Although he raps mostly in English, he makes a point to flavor his music with the Rio lifestyle, often illustrating with his wordplay the postcards that we are so used to seeing: the beaches, the parties, and especially, the ladies (he is 17, after all). Don’t be surprised if he suddenly weaves in some bars in Portuguese as well – he tends to do that from time to time. His unique sound has been garnering some fans, and his music videos are about to break 100,000 views on youtube. In “Havaianas”, his first true love song to the city of Rio de Janeiro, he urges you to do exactly what you should be doing while you listen to his music: relax, slow it down, and enjoy the clever styling’s of the one and only Josbi.
