Gates just released his latest project “Rated-G” which is highly inspired by the 90s hip-hop he grew up listening to as a child. His lead single “Midwest Mash” has an old school west coast feel to it and the video matches the retro concept. Gates is seen wearing a throwback Dennis Rodman jersey and playing NBA Jam on a Sega Genesis in the visual. The song was produced by RicAndThadeus and the video was directed by Cleveland’s own CedLynch and Brett Vance. Other tracks on “Rated-G” such as “On My Own” and “You See Me” also provide that golden era hip-hop vibe.
