Yesterday tens of thousands of people took to the streets on New York City for a “Millions March” to protest the deaths of Akair Gurley, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Tamir Rice at the hands of police. The mile long demonstration lasted about four hours before spilling out into parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Approximately 50,000 people walked from Washington Square Park to the New York Police Department headquarters. The number does not include those who marched in Boston, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., or other locations.
Among the 50,000 people that walke the 40 city blocks were former Def Jam vice president Kevin Liles, Nas, and Russell Simmons.
