According to Philly.com, Radio One’s Hot 107.9 is changing formats. RadioInsight reported that all the Hot 107.9FM staff were laid off the other day and the station is changing it’s format to classic hip hop.
The station will be called, Boom 107.9FM. It’s calling itself as “a throwback hip hop station” that “represents the hip-hop you grew up with.” Radio-One VP/Programming Colby Colb is serving as imaging voice for Boom.

We have seen changes to Hot 107.9 before from 103.9 The Beat to 100.3 The Beat to Michael Vick radio for a good week before they eventually settled into Hot 107.9. So hopefully we will see the entire staff back up and running on a new frequency soon.
