Who says that there are problems between the Atlanta Hawks and the African-American community?!
Many felt like there would be a divide between African-American community in the city and Hawks after former GM Danny Ferry’s racially charged phone calls hit the net.
Speaking about then free-agents, Ferry used words to describe players that would shock most fans.
To their credit, the Hawks have done a great job moving away from the situation. They put Danny Ferry on an indefinite suspension and their now actively taking offers from others trying to buy the team.
In the meantime, they still have to field a product and appeal to a community that’s been giving them the side-eye for the last few months. This new attempt to reach out core fans and show that they’re trying to become more diverse just might help.
The “King Of The South” T.I. was enlisted to appear in a promo commercial for the Hawks. Tip stars alongside Hakws CEO Steve Koonin in the clip. You would think T.I would be the star, but Koonin manages to steal the spotlight.
Check out the clip below. Hawks season kicks off against the Indiana Pacers November 1st.
