Rising star Paloma Ford, is preparing to properly introduce herself to the world with her upcoming new project “Nearly Civilized”. Having recently partnered with Monster Headphones, Paloma Ford has kicked off her musical career in the right direction with her first chart topping feature on Meek Mill’s summer single “I Don’t Know”. In addition to this smash hit, she recently dropped a single called “Summer in California” featuring legendary rap artist Snoop Dogg, and fellow Cali native Iamsu!
With Paloma ready set to end the year 2014 on a high note, Paloma recently sat down with HHS1987’s Eldorado to discuss her career, working with Meek Mill, her project “Nearly Civilized” and much more. Check out the interview and listen to her new single “Let Me See” featuring Meek Mill below.
1.) When did you fall in love with Music?
I fell in love with music as a child. As long as i can remember, I’ve always loved listening to music and memorizing lyrics.
2.) You were featured on MMG artist Meek Mill’s “DWMTM” debut single “I Don’t Know”, how did you two link?
We linked through producers D&D and Rio, whom we were both working with on our individual projects.
3.) You recently recruited Snoop Dogg on your latest single “Summer In California”. What was it like working with a hip-hop legend right from your backyard?
It was definitely a dream come true to have Snoop on my record, especially being from Long Beach and being raised on 90’s West Coast hip hop. We never actually were able to get in the studio together for this though. Snoop is a really good friend of mine so I asked him if he would hop on the record and sent it to him. A little less then 72 hours later, he sent it back to me w/ the verse. If you only knew the the excitement I felt when the song popped up in my inbox!
4.) Your working on a new project “Nearly Civilized”, what do you want fans to take for it?
Nearly Civilized is my personal introduction to my fans; giving them a taste of who I am and what’s to come.
5.) Who (artist & producers) Do you plan on having on your new EP
First and foremost my team D&D and Rio. They produced the majority of the project. I also have a special song w/ Meek Mill on there, but I really wanted to stay from over saturating this project w/ features so that people really get a chance to hear me and get to know me as an artist.
6.) If you could work with one producer/artist that is no longer here with us who would it be and why?
7.) Whats the toughest challenge you’ve have to overcome in your career so far?
As a woman in the industry you encounter so many different challenges that men will probably never have to deal w/. And one of the biggest challenges I’ve had to overcome is being respected as an artist and seen for more then just my physical appearance.
8.) What do you want to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered for my originality, being authentic, and never compromising on who I am.
9.) After you release your project “Nearly Civilized”, what else can we expect from you?
Definitely more music. Fashion is another huge passion of mine so I have some exciting things planned w/ that as well. I’ve got a couple projects in the works, so you’ll see .
