By now, Rihanna’s latest single Bitch Better Have My Money has gone completely viral via radio airwaves & internet streams.
Meet the brains behind that incredible record & more to come as we will see on R8, Bibi Bourelly, a 20-year-old Moroccan/German singer slash songwriter (don’t call her a songwriter though). This young lady nearly flunked out of high school before she decided to leave her hometown of Berlin, Germany to come to America, LA to be exact, & chase the dream. Even with the risks being well-known, it wasn’t hard in doing being that she grew up around music & had a musician for a father that allowed her to tour & embrace the industry world at a young age.
It’s been a year since making the drastic change for her life & she’s now writing songs for Rihanna & kicking it with the likes of Kanye West (who introduced her & the music to RiRi), Pharrell, & Usher… Dreams do come true.
With Rihanna’s single now doing numbers, Bibi saw this as prime opportunity to truly immerse herself into the industry & debut some music of her own. Her first appearance as an artist & not just a songwriter is made with her latest composition, Riot. She discussed the record in an interview with FADER:
I want to give people the truth because a lot of people aren’t so authentic… It’s how I felt in school, fighting against my parents, fight to be considered a real musician. For me it’s about fighting to be heard and to be recognized.
We’ll be seeing more of miss Bibi as time progresses, but in the meantime, feast your ears upon something that can be relatable & genuinely felt.
