On the surface, Ethan Bence and hip-hop music seem like an unlikely pair. A Pittsburgh native and business student attending Carnegie Mellon University, Bence hardly embodies the typical rapper image often portrayed in hip-hop; a topic he discusses on his original material EP, Outspoken Introvert.
The Outspoken Introvert EP is a project of contradictions, one that leaves the listeners minds wandering. Each song on the EP is paired with another that it contradicts with in some different form. Because there are seven songs, one does not have an opposite, a task that is left to the listener to find. Clocking in at 26 minutes, Outspoken Introvert EP is a dense, nuanced journey through internal struggle and conflicting ideologies.
