With just about a week left in June, producer/deejay, Teck-Zilla emerges from the lab, with two new loosies, just in time for his self proclaimed tribute month. You may recall the Sade sampled beat tape, Son of Sade: An Ode, that he dropped in June of last year. This year, Teck shifts his inspiration to Gary, Indiana, where he uses various Michael Jackson samples to create a fresh new remix of the previously released, “L.O.V.E.,” from Sonyae, as well as the high octane, “Rocksteady,” which features Noah Vinson, Dex Amora, Roqy Tyraid, along with dancehall crooner, Uzi-Quality.
While the remix for “L.O.V.E.,” which now also features Dominique LaRue, and Tiff the Gift, samples from both “The Lady In My Life,” as featured on MJ’s flagship LP, Thriller (Epic Records, 1982), as well as the Refugee Camp Mix of “Blood On the Dance Floor” (Epic Records, 1997), “Rocksteady” borrows from MJ’s “With a Child’s Heart,” as featured on his third studio album, Music & Me (Motown, 1973), which may ring a bell as the source material used for Big Pun’s, “You Ain’t a Killer” (Capital Punishment, Terror Squad/Loud Records, 1998). Both tracks are taken from Teck-Zilla’s forthcoming Jackson 5 sampled tribute LP, Joe Jackson Kids. Hit the play button, stream, enjoy and spread the gospel!
