Death Row Records founder Suge Knight has found himself in headlines again. According to multiple reports, the hip-hop mogul known for introducing what mainstream media titled “Gangsta Rap” to the world was involved in a deadly hit and run accident in Los Angeles and he has turned himself in to police for questioning.
According to ABCnews,
Homicide detectives interviewed rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight today following a Thursday fatal crash in Compton, California, authorities said.
His attorney says Knight was behind the wheel in the accident, which killed one man and injured another.
Knight claimed he was attacked by two people and while driving away, he hit one man with his car, killing him, his attorney, James Blatt, told ABC station KABC. Another man was hospitalized.
At this point, no charges have been filed.
Knight arrived at the Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood station, KABC reports, after authorities identified him as a person of interest in the hit-and-run. According to a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department press release, witnesses identified the driver as Knight, and the vehicle involved in the incident was described as a red Ford F-150 Raptor, similar to Knight’s vehicle.
