The students at Baltimore’s Maritime High School won Get Schooled’ National Attendance Challenge when they raised their attendance by 10%. As a rewards, the students had ScHoolboy Q as an acting principal for a day. The rapper, who was in South Africa, headed to the school for a Q&A session, to interact with students, and take part in a few basketball games.
The rapper encouraged students to “keep working don’t listen to nobody if you believe in yourself, believe in yourself. If plan A don’t work, work on another plan A.” When talking about inspiring artists he said, “I see a lot more creativity. It’s a lot more rappers so a lot of good stuff gets overlooked. The bar keeps being pushed higher and higher,” before adding, “I have to keep working hard and creating a fan base so right now I keep trying to push the bar.”
