If you saw game 5 of the 2015 Western Conference Finals, you saw the hit Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson took the head courtesy of Trevor Ariza’s knee and a few days after suffering the injury, Thompson has official been diagnosed with a concussion and he was be out indefinitely.
According to ESPN,
“Following extensive examinations over the last two days — including neurological tests earlier Friday morning — Warriors guard Klay Thompson has been diagnosed with a concussion. He will not return to the court until he is symptom-free and cleared under the NBA’s concussion protocol guidelines,” the Warriors said in a statement. “He will be evaluated daily and there is no timetable for his return.”
Thompson threw up and experienced other “concussion-like symptoms” late Wednesday night after being kneed in the head by Rockets forward Trevor Ariza in the fourth quarter of Game 5, his father, Mychal Thompson, told ESPN. Thompson was initially cleared to return to the game by team doctors.
“He didn’t practice today, obviously, and we’ll just fall on the doctor’s advice. He’ll practice when he can practice,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Friday at Golden State’s practice facility in Oakland, California. “We’re going to practice tomorrow. We have Sunday off, and so he’ll have the next couple of days and we’ll re-evaluate.”
An All-Star for the first time this season, Thompson could miss the start of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The series begins Thursday in Oakland.
