Well I can honestly say I didn’t see this one coming. Former NBA Champion Kevin Garnett is headed back to the team that drafted him. As the 2014-15 NBA trade deadline came close to an end, the Timberwolves and Brooklyn Nets have agreed to a trade sending Thaddeus Young to the Brooklyn Nets for their former first round pick Kevin Garnett.
According to the NY Post,
Kevin Garnett agreed to waive his no-trade clause Thursday, paving the way to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves — the team that drafted him 20 years ago — and bring his Hall of Fame-bound career full circle.
In exchange, the Nets will receive forward Thaddeus Young from the Timberwolves — a player drafted by Nets general manager Billy King when he was with the 76ers in 2007 — in a move that will allow them to get younger, cheaper and better all at once.
Because Garnett held a no-trade clause — he’s one of just six players in the NBA with that privilege — the transaction was up to him.
And he decided to return to Minnesota, where he spent the first 12 years of his career.
Can Garnett help the young Timberwolves and teach them how to win? Let us know below and stay tuned to HHS1987 for all your sports news.
