Former #2 draft pick Michael Beasley has found a new life in Basketball. Beasley, who was last seen playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves is now in China trying to resurrect his career after years of lackadaisical training habits (and smoking habits) left him on the outs with a lot of NBA teams.
Now Beasley is in China playing for the Shanghai Sharks in the CBA. He showed off the skills that made him the #2 pick coming out of Kansas State during the CBA All-Star game.
Michael Beasley scored a record 59 points, grabbed 11 boards and the MVP award.
Beasley connected on 27 of 37 shots and 5 of 10 from downtown. Since defense was non-existent he only attempted 2 free throws – surprisingly he missed both.
His South team won 142-123 against a North team with CBA legend Stephon Marbury (4pts) and former NBA player Andray Blatche who led his side with team-highs of 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Quincy Douby held the previous record with 44 points in the 2011 game.
